CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65 WARNING LABEL

In 1986, the State of California created the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (Proposition 65) due to growing concerns of drinking water contamination by toxic chemicals.  Since its inception, Proposition 65 has grown to include nearly 900 chemicals/compounds.

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about exposure to chemicals that could cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.  These warnings can be found on products and in most commercial places throughout the state of California.  The following examples are products or places that can expose you to the listed chemicals: grocery stores, jewelry, coffee, amusement parks, dental offices, lamps, parking garages, hospitals, automobiles, beauty products, restaurants, and furniture.

Most wood furniture contains very small particles of wood dust, which is a listed item. The hazardous exposure limits are generally only found in the workplace when furniture is being manufactured or in warehouse facilities.

Formaldehyde is commonly found in some coatings. Most wood furniture contains some amount of formaldehyde.  All our products meet or exceed CARB standards regarding formaldehyde (CARB standards are currently the strictest in the US).

When our products are manufactured and packaged, we do not know where each item will ship.  Because of this, our only option is to place this warning on all our products regardless of where the product is delivered.

Urban Forge is dedicated to providing consumers with quality furniture that meets or exceeds all US Federal and State regulations regarding consumer safety.
